Making Waves - Online

Due to restrictions imposed by the pandemic, the feminist history course Making Waves: An Historical Perspective on Women’s March Toward Equality will be conducted remotely using Zoom. It will be led by Patricia Nugent with technical assistance by Stacey Lamodi for six weeks, beginning Monday, September 28 right up until the Monday night before Election Day (November 2)., 6:30-9 pm.

Participants will journey from Seneca Falls, NY in 1848 to Washington, DC in 2020 via literature, documentaries, music, and performances. Our instructor has been a student of the women’s suffrage movement for many decades, feeling a deep connection to those who opened up opportunities for her and other women. She’s the author of the play “The Stone that Started the Ripple” about a modern-day reunion of the founding suffragists.

Thanks to a grant from Soroptimist International of Saratoga County (SISC), there is no fee to attend but Zoom must be downloaded (free) on your device, and attendance at all six classes is expected because each week builds on what came before. There will also be some homework.

Class size will be limited to 30 participants, aged 16 and up, with LWV and Soroptimist members having priority. To register, email the following information to Pat at keepmakingwaves@gmail.com: Name, Address, Cell Phone, Email. Please include your intent to attend all six classes.

See you in “school”!
