Peace Week to Feature Suffragist Descendant

A live interview (online) with Elizabeth Cady Stanton’s great-great granddaughter, Coline Jenkins, is scheduled for Tuesday, September 22 at 7pm as part of Peace Week organized by the Presbyterian-New England Congregational Church in Saratoga Springs.

The event is titled Not with Her Consent, taken from a speech Elizabeth Cady Stanton gave in 1868 in Washington, DC where she said, “…woman knows the cost of life better than man does, and not with her consent would one drop of blood ever be shed, one life sacrificed in vain.”

The interview with Ms. Jenkins, also a direct descendant of Harriet Stanton Blatch as well as a legislator, author and television producer, will be conducted via Zoom by Patricia Nugent, a local author, activist, and educator. Questions will focus on the correlation between feminism and peace, and the most effective strategies for creating a more just world.

This event is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Saratoga County, an organization founded in 1920 to help women use their hard-earned vote wisely.
